Gold bullion below spot?
I dont know whether I've just gotten lucky recently, but in this past week, I've managed to source 12.5 oz of bullion at or below spot.
In one instance, I picked up 2 one-ounce Krugs at spot. In another instance, I got two fractional (1/4 oz) Krugs at the equivalent of $880. And in yet another instance, I got 10 ounces of Canadian Maples at $880. I'm having such good luck, I'm sort of inclined to try bypassing my coin dealer entirely. (And I have a good deal at spot +7 on Krugs, with him willing to fix over the phone). Question: if you guys have been successful at buying gold away from dealers, what types of deals are you getting? Oh yeah, first post. Hello. |

Re: Gold bullion below spot?
Always good to buy below spot and it is surprisingly easy to do on a regular basis for little effort.
My latest purchase (cost me $1000) http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/3167/img2302abs9.jpg |

Re: Gold bullion below spot?
The coin is not in the best condition as the seller used to where it as a medallion round his neck until he put it in the jewelery drawer where it has resided for the past 20 years. At the end of the day it is a 1.2 oz chunk of gold at the equivalent of $833/oz.

Re: Gold bullion below spot?
about 4 years ago I learned a hard lesson. gold can be counterfieted. I found a nice deal on ebay....numinastic coin, unslabbed and reasonably priced. grabbed it and sent it into pcgs....
came back unslabbed as a counterfiet. find a way to test the gold you buy before you pay for it and for that matter after reading that chinese article find a way to test the silver coins too. |
Re: Gold bullion below spot?
In my photo you`ll notice the black thing it is sitting in. That is a fisch tester and I would recommend that any bullion bargain hunters buy a set.

I always bypass dealers...just last week I picked up a $20 St Gaudens for $825 locally... thank you craigslist :)

Forgive me, I may be showing my Naivet, but if the coin is 1.2057oz of 90% gold (1.08 oz of gold) didn't we pay about $925/oz? I like your number better, please tell me your right and I'm wrong. |
Re: Gold bullion below spot?
It is 1.2057 pure gold. It also says it is 37.5 grams of pure gold which is 1.2057 :) The 1.2057 ounces of 90% means that 90% of the coin consists of 1.2057 gold while the remaing 10% is probably copper or something. You did well
